Gorillaz - Plastic Beach

Die Gorillaz sind wieder da – mit ihrem großartigen Plastic Beach. “Welcome to the World of the Plastic Beach” begrüßt uns Snoop Dogg zu Beginn des Albums. Weiter geht es mit Songs mit Lou Reed, De La Soul, Mos Def, The National Orchestra for Arabic Music und vielen Anderen.

Die Erst Single des Albums, Stylo, ist großartig, das Video im Tarantino-DeathProof-Style könnt ihr euch hier in HD anschauen.

Metric - Fantasies

Ich finde Metric schon immer sehr gut, sie haben sich während ihrer mittlerweile vier Studioalben stetig weiter entwickelt. Zwar “Grow up and Grow away” als erstes aufgenommen, jedoch erst nach dem “Old World Underground, Where Are You Now” sowie “Live it out” veröffentlicht. Ist “Grow up…” noch sehr melancholisch bis psychedelisch waren die anderen beiden Alben sehr Pop-Rock lastig, und sehr gut. “Fantasies” ist nun erheblich mehr von elektrischen Elementen geprägt, was dem Hörgenuss jedoch keinen Abbruch tut. Also, hört euch einfach mal die beiden Songs an.

Hier ist sie: Album des Monats.

Album des Monats Januar ist definitiv:

Tocotronic – Schall und Wahn.

Großartige Platte – lyrisch wie musikalisch. Insbesondere “Im Zweifel für den Zweifel” und “Macht es nicht selbst”.

I like this picture because of the train’s motion and the steadiness of the background, especially, as one can read the station’s name “Goncourt”.

I had to adjust colors and crop it, but it is a nice pic, I think. As I had no tripod with me, I had to place my cam on the floor.

Luckily, we stayed at a friend’s place in Paris and did not have to spend loads of money on a hotel. The apartment was really cute. The most charming part of the house was this staircase. I had to act quickly when I took this photo as my friend did not want to wait for me to adjust everything.

Again, I had no tripod with me but this time, a table could help. While we were enjoying Häagen Dasz ice cream, the heralding sunset dipped Warsaw’s beautiful shopping street in a very nice light.

Built in the 1930s the Prudential Insurance’s building was destroyed in WWII and rebuilt. Today, it is a hotel.

Basically, I am not a fan of selective coloring since usually, the outcomes are rather unspectacular. This one is somewhat different. The sky and the blue attachment to the graffiti and the green trees complement one each other.

To be honest, those kinds of pictures are not too difficult. And they have been made millions of times. Why I like this pic so much is because of the taxi’s red color. It literally shouts at the spectator that this picture was not taken in NYC but in Toronto, one of the most beautiful cities I have visited so far.

Again, I had not much time to prepare this photo. I had to get in that train and therefore could not go for another try. Luckily, I captured the American Flag.

I really do like this picture because of its contrasts. The colorful houses, the traffic light, the sky on the one hand and the light-gray billboard on the other hand. You can see the guy with the ladder, preparing to place a new advertisement.
